Goodbye Hello
Saying goodbye to Jess was really tough - even tougher than I had imagined.
But touched down safely, and am now ensconced with family friends at their flat in Colaba. More to follow with pictures. I love Bombay already, the hustle and bustle, the colourfulness and the people I have met. People are much more inquisitive about others than at home, and it makes conversations and making friends very easy so far. Tomorrow we are going sailing for the day (ahh the difficult life of a medical student eh?!!) before the work begins in earnest as I travel to Thane on Sunday.
Something which I have noticed is that there is always the tooting of horns - not the angry tooting like back home, just little paps - people use it in the CRAZY traffic here to let others know they're there. The driving is really quite something else - ameliorated only by the fact that it is impossible to travel at much faster than 30 miles an hour!
I am finding the poverty and begging that is everywhere quite difficult - it is very hard to pull away from people who have so little when I know I can't solve their problems but have so much...still praying and working this one through.
That said, it has not stopped me tucking into the local delicacies of one sort and another. Indian food is everything I'd hoped and more. More soon, will post a proper prayer list soon too.
