For the missionary prayer group!
Dear all at the missionary prayer group,
I just wanted to thank you so much for your aerogram which I got today. It means a lot knowing you are all praying for Jess and me, and it was great to get your greetings too. I have lots to post on the site today, so you can catch up with the last hectic week soon. And I have finally finished my first memory card on the camera so will post lots of piccies this week.
I have a particular prayer request for you which I will give more details on soon; please pray for Sreekumar, who is a Christian brother recovering here from a major operation for Oesophageal cancer. He has quite a rare kind, with a poor prognosis, but is recovering much better than expected so far. He is a convert from Hinduism, and virtually his whole family except his wife and children disowned him. Will let you know more on how he is doing shortly.
One of the things I would also value prayer for is coming to terms with our utter helplessness in the face of the vastness of human suffering. I know that God is ultimately in control, and that he is sovereign even over the incomprehensible side to human suffering, but that does not stop us feeling compassion for our fellow human beings, and wanting to help carry the burdens we encounter. Yet we are so powerless to be of any significant help. Please pray that the Holy Spirit of the Lord would enable me to show love that is Christ-like to these people.
Love to you all
Duncan
